This article will show you how to set-up the Nintendo Switch OLED so that you can start gaming.

How to set up Nintendo Switch OLED
These steps will help you set up your Nintendo Switch OLED.

You can either use the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons to complete the setup or the touchscreen. These instructions assume that you are using the touchscreen. However, the Switch will always display the Joy-Con button to choose an option.

The power button is located at the top left corner of the Nintendo Switch OLED.
The screen will start with a short introduction video. Next, you’ll see a screen that allows you to select your preferred language. Tap Ok to select your preferred language.

The Region screen will open. Select your Region, then tap Ok.

Some games are region-locked and won’t work in other regions. Make sure you choose the right region.

You will see the End-User License Agreement. Select Next by tapping the checkbox beside Accept.

Select a Wi-Fi network. Select the network that you wish to use, and then tap the button to choose it. The password prompt will be displayed. Enter the network password and tap OK. During connection, the Switch OLED will show an animation.

To skip this step, you can tap later. This will stop you from creating a Nintendo network identification during setup. After you have set up the System Setting menu, you can connect to a network or add a Nintendo network identification.

The Time Zone selection screen will open. Next, select your time zone and tap Ok.
Now you can connect to a television. This option is not required and the guide will focus on handheld mode. Select Later.

If you wish to setup a TV, select Connect TV. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the dock and place the Switch OLED inside.

Next, you will be asked to remove the Joy-Cons. Select Next.
The Setup will demonstrate how to use the Switch with Joy-Cons attached, detached, and with the kickstand in use. To continue, select Ok.

You will see the Add User screen. Tap Next.
You can create a new user, or import data from an existing Switch console. This guide assumes you are creating a new user. To do this, select Create a New User.

In the System Setting menu, you can import saved data later. If you need to transfer important data between Switch consoles , our guide to saving Switch data may be of assistance.

Next, you will be able to choose a user icon. Select the one that you like and tap Ok.
When you are asked for a username, enter it. Select Ok and enter the name that you like.
You will see your icon and user name on the confirmation screen. To continue, tap Ok
Next, you will be asked if you would like to connect to a Nintendo Account. To add your user information, tap Link to a Nintendo Account. Later will skip .

A Nintendo Network ID can be added later to the System Settings menu.
If you wish, you can add additional users. To repeat steps 12-15 of this guide, tap Add another User. Alternately, choose Skip.

Is it worth the OLED Nintendo Switch?

The Switch OLED upgrade is not worth it if you use your Switch mostly docked to a television. The Switch OLED is a more advanced model than the original, with better speakers and a better kickstand. It’s otherwise identical to the original model.
