Black Friday is fast disappearing and Cyber Monday is hotting-up and determined to challenge it. Amazon is at the forefront of Cyber Monday, with a number of deals already announced. Here is my breakdown on what you should buy and avoid.

Note: My thanks to BestBlackFriday.com for helping me to compile these deals and to create order out of the annual chaos

Star Buys

Amazon offers the best deals on its products across all ranges, which is becoming more common. They may not all be in the Star Buys category, however, because Amazon sells them at a lower price on its dedicated Prime Day – you will find them in the Solid Deals area.

  • Dash Buttons – $0.99 cents (saving 4%) and $4.99 credit after your first order – This is controversial because they don’t allow shoppers to price hunt before placing an order, but it’s essentially a $4 credit that makes it an easy decision for at least one purchase
  • Fire HD 8 on sale for $59.99 (save 30)
  • Kindle Voyage starting at $169.99 (Save $30)
  • Fire Kids Edition tablet on sale for $74.99 (save 25%) – Was $84.99 last Year
  • Echo Dot $39.99 (save 10%)
  • Amazon Tap $89.99 (Save $40)
  • Amazon Fire TV on Sale at $74.99 (Save $15)
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote $29.99 (Save $10)
  • HP Envy Wireless All in One Photo Printer, $49.99 (Save $50) – $20 less than Best Buy’s Black Friday Sale Price
  • Sony Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones on Sale for $88 (Save $111) – This is a better deal than Best Buy’s Black Friday Doorbuster of $11.

Solid Deals

Many Amazon products of own brand are listed here, despite the strong discounts. They can also be found cheaper on Prime Day. These products are worth your attention.

  • Amazon Echo on sale at $139.99 (Save $40) – Amazon Black Friday Price Matches Amazon Prime Day, but it’s still a great deal
  • Kindle Paperwhite starting at $99.99 (save $30) – Amazon Prime Day: Get $30 Off
  • Fire Tablet on Sale for $33.33 – Recycled Prime Day and Black Friday Deal
  • Amazon Kindle for $49.99 (save 30) – same as above
  • Bundle of Kindles for Kids for $69.99 (save 30%) – Recycled from Cyber Monday 2015.
  • Sonos PLAY1 Compact Wireless Smart Speaker $149 (Save $50.99) – Great product, great price, and available now
  • Rif6 Mobile Projector + SoundCube $245 – Projectors are usually $299 by themselves

Use Caution

Amazon is known for being very transparent and the most dangerous deals are those that don’t provide any information.

Cyber Monday TV Tip: Always check the model number of any TV before you buy. You can avoid weak models from even the most reputable manufacturers. However, no-name brands are often terrible so make sure you do your research.

  • 50 inch 1080p LED TV on sale for $145. There is no original retail price, brand or model number listed.
  • Amazon offers a 50 inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV at $249.99, as well as the above. Amazon is known for being vague and saying “Premium brand”, but this TV doesn’t.
  • Select HP laptops up to 30% off – this is not a typographic error. HP’s website offers laptop deals up to 50% off
  • The Arlo 5-Camera Security Systems for $469 (save 20%) – This is a small savings for a high-end product that one customer only rates at 3/5 stars.
  • Nest Cam Indoor Security Camera on Sale for $163.98. This is the worst Cyber Monday Deal Amazon has. Why? It’s currently listed for $149

Notable: Some retailers will extend their Black Friday sales through the weekend, in preparation for Cyber Monday. So make sure you check my Black Friday guides so that you don’t miss any deals which might still be available.
