What is AmazonSmile?
AmazonSmile allows you to shop at no cost and support your favourite charity organisation. AmazonSmile can be activated via the Amazon Shopping App for Android and iOS. It is accessible at smile.amazon.com from any web browser. AmazonSmile offers the same great shopping experience as Amazon.com with AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile donates 0.5% of eligible purchases to the charity of your choice. There are over a million charities you can support.
What are the requirements to be eligible for charitable organisations?
To be eligible for participation, organisations must be in good standing and registered with the IRS as an 501(c). Public charitable organisations must not be private foundations. Supporting organisations may not be eligible unless they are identified as Type I, Type II or functionally integrated Type 3. Eligible charities must be located in any of the 50 U.S. States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. To receive donations, organisations must provide bank account information online.
Participation is not available to organisations that support, encourage, encourage or promote intolerance or hate. Amazon uses the US Office of Foreign Assets Control, (US OFAC), and the Southern Poverty Law Centre(SPLC) for the determination of which charities are included in these groups. To maintain their eligibility, charitable organisations must adhere to the Amazon Smile Participation Agreement. AmazonSmile is open to all charitable organisations. We aim to only include charitable organisations in good standing that do not engage in any activities mentioned above. What does AmazonSmile do?
Customers are asked to choose a charity from the over 1,000,000 eligible organisations when they first visit smile.amazon.com. Customers must select a charity before they can shop or browse AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charity chosen by the customer.
Are customers or charities charged extra?
No. No. Amazon.com customers can shop the same way as Amazon.com, with the additional benefit that AmazonSmile Foundation will donate to charitable organisations they choose.
What is AmazonSmile Foundation?![]()
AmazonSmile Foundation, a private foundation 501(c),(3) created by Amazon to manage the AmazonSmile program, is called the AmazonSmile Foundation. Amazon.com, Inc.’s subsidiaries send all donations to the AmazonSmile Foundation. The AmazonSmile Foundation then donates the amounts to charitable organisations chosen by our customers. Amazon covers all expenses for the AmazonSmile Foundation. They are not deducted from donations made through AmazonSmile.
Is the AmazonSmile Foundation allowed to take any part of donations for its operations?
